Chad McKay #33 Press Releases

Chad McKay interview after Vic Titles

WA STATE ROUND 4 WANEROO

Chad McKay was sitting in 7th place in the WA series leading into this round so he new he had to put together some good results to improve his position after missing round 2 due to injury. The conditions were very wet and the race was in fact nearly cancelled because it was considered too dangerous because of how wet the track was. The riders were called to vote wether they wanted to cotinue the day after practice and McKay knew this would be a good opportunity to make up some points so he voted yes.

Race One saw Chad and Ryan Lancaster side by side in turn one but Lancaster grabbed the holeshot. He and Chad battled for the first few laps and pulled away from the rest of the field Chad was getting drilled with the wet muddy roost and dropped back about 10 seconds to cross the line behind Lancaster.

Race 2 wasnt as good for the Can-Am rider as he was pushed wide in turn 2 and dropped back ro 5th where he stayed the whole race.

Race 3 Chad was 5th out of turn one but moved up to 3rd behind Lancaster and Glen Ashworth. Ryan and Chad both passed Glen and battled for a couple of laps until Ryan pulled a lead. Luke Gaisford also made his way around Asworth and pressured McKay all the way to the finish line to take 3rd behind Chad and Ryan.

McKay finished 2nd overall which moved him up to 6th in the series but is only 12 points behind Ashworth who is now holding 3rd position. Chad looks to improve his position and get enough points to make his way up to 3rd, considering there is 2 rounds left and they are both hard pack McKay is feeling confident he can do so.

QRCV TRI STATE ROUND 3

Tooleen motocross club held the last round of the tri state rounds for 2010 and Chad McKay made it over from WA to seal his 1st place in production and 2nd place overall positions in the pro class. For the pro class McKay had a brand new 2010 ds450xmx decked out with Fox float suspension, Lonestar front end and AC products. All which helped improve the bikes performance for the pro class. Chad also competed in the production class on the standard ds450xmx.

McKay clean swept the production class grabbing each holeshot and extending his lead each race to win convincingly however in race 3 he scored no points as the scoring device/ transponder wasnt swapped from the race bike to the production bike but still took home 2nd place for the day.

The pro class started out quite well for Chad as he was 2ndout of turn one behind Cameron Wade in race 1 and madehis way around Wade in about lap 3. Chad and Ryan Lancaster both passed Cameron in the same corner and pulled away to battle each other. McKay held off Lancaster for another 3 laps which consisted of some very close racing. Lancaster adehis way around over a jump and McKay settled for 2nd.

Race 2 saw Lancaster get the holeshot while McKay was in pursuit but in lap 3 Chad had a huge get off and hurt himself quite badly injuring his knee. He was on the ground for a while but managed to get back on and finish the race in 3rd position.

Race 3 Chad was sore and struggling to bend his leg which affected his riding capabilities but he knew he only had to finish the race to secure 2nd place overall for the series. He went out and cruised around in 3rd position to take home 3rd for the day and 2nd for the series.

"Today was going really good until i crashed but I'm sure i will be fine soon enough. I was just excited to be on my new race bike with the new fox float and lonestar suspension. Once i set it up right for this track it was handling awesome and cornering like a dream. I am so thankful to Hardiman ATV for hooking me up with the suspension and look forward to dialing it in for the nationals, i think it is going to help me go a lot faster. It has been a lot of fun once again competing in the tri state series and rode some really cool tracks and I am stoked to be able to take out the production title and 2nd in the Pro to Ryan. I am hoping to be back on the bike as soon as my knee is ready and preparing for the nationals in October."
