ATV Xteam - Darrell "Bullet" Knight

Bullet has been an ATV nut for most of his life and because he is nearly over the hill... his very wide range of experience incorporates some pretty weird stuff too.

From Quad riding in Antarctica, to being the smallest capacity machine to ever complete the Finke Desert Race in 2007 at 113cc. And then returning the following year to do the opposite at the old maximum displacement of 730cc, he remains the highest ever ranked 4x4 quad in 7th place on the mighty Renegade 800X.

He achieved the 1st ever MX race win on a 4x4 quad in Australia and he has won plenty of State and National Championships in many different MX classes from Jumbos, Senior Production, Expert and Vets. And somewhere in there he held a quad lap record for Gillman Speedway that stood for 2 years. He’s won the 4x4 class at ThumbPump every year, found his way on the podium for Kamfari and Condo 750 and powered a Renegade to 2nd place in the awesome Australasian Safari.

Bullet mainly races and recreationally rides close to standard Can-Am’s everywhere. The Can-Am’s are competitive straight out of the box, and other than that it is just easier and cheaper to stay stock... as well as you can still win ? As the top podium earner for the Australian Can-Am X Team, in 2012 Bullet is going to have fun riding and driving wherever he can, and hopefully occasionally adding to his list of podiums along the way.

So after you have crossed the Simpson Desert by quad a couple of times and floated Outlanders across crocodile infested rivers when riding to the Northern most tip of Australia... what do you do next...

On 3 wheels, Bullet will continue with the Can-Am Spyder Roadster events and promotions. He’ll also be doing some bitumen stuff on 4 wheels, Quad Drifting on his DS450X MX. Add a roll cage to those 4 wheels, and Bullet will be learning some new skills in the awesome Commander 1000X side by side vehicle with champion rally Co-driver Naomi Tillet making sure he does it properly. So for 2012, the X Team now extends to the Australian Side by Side Championship of the ARC series.

He'll also be providing ATV coaching and continue his technical advice within the X Team, to external Can-Am customers and marketing support for BRP's National Field Day program. Bullets long time sponsor Adam Siemensma of Quad Squad performs industry leading high tech research and performance development work, and Bullet helps take this valuable experience to Can-Am racers, dealers and customers everywhere.

In a tough year for the industry, 2012 will still be a very busy one. With all the work involved, on many occasions, Bullet will be happy to see his X Team mates kick the goals on the race track.

"Most of the 2011 X Team riders are continuing on for 2012 and some of our younger racers with heaps of potential are really starting to crank the pace up. I'm really looking forward to supporting the X Team and helping out at anything that makes us faster. The whole time I’ll be learning a lot myself with SxS and Can-Am’s ever advancing products" Bullet said.
