Darrell "Bullet" Knight
Bullet has been an ATV nut for most of his life and because he is nearly over the hill... his very wide range of experience incorporates some pretty weird stuff too.
From Quad riding in Antarctica, to being the smallest capacity machine to ever complete the Finke Desert Race in 2007 at 113cc. And then returning the following year to do the opposite at 730cc, he is the highest ever ranked 4x4 quad in 7th place on the mighty Renegade 800X (downsized to 730cc for 2008).
He achieved the 1st ever MX race win on a 4x4 quad in Australia and he has won plenty of State and National Championships in many different MX classes from Jumbos, Senior Production, Expert and Vets. And somewhere in there he held a quad lap record for Gillman Speedway that stood for 2 years, Continues to take out the 4x4 class at the ThumbPump 300, found his way on the podium for Kamfari and Condo 750 and powered a Renegade to 2nd place in the awesome Australasian Safari.
On the older standard width Can-Am he won 1st place in the 2008 QRASA MX Season on a Production class DS450X. 2009 saw the new ‘race ready' DS450X MX and Outlander 800R with a Bullet on top earn the QRASA Club Champion for the most points accrued across all disciplines.
As the top podium earner for the Australian Can-Am X Team, in 2011 Bullet is looking to continue adding to his record of 56 podiums.
Along the way he's crossed the Simpson Desert by quad a couple of times and floated Outlanders across crocodile infested rivers when riding to the Northern most tip of Australia.
He'll still be the front man for 47industries movies and will always be looking for something unique to do on 4 wheels... or 3 wheels with the Can-Am Spyder Roadster... and then a bit more 4 wheels with the Can-Am Commander UTV.
He'll also be providing ATV coaching services through the 47industries Coaching Clinics (run by partner Lisa). Bullet will continue to provide a technical and racing perspective to marketing support for BRP's National Field Day program.
Bullets long time sponsor Adam Siemensma from Quad Squad performs industry leading high tech research and race development work, and Bullet helps take this valuable experience to Can-Am racers, dealers and customers everywhere.
So 2011 will be another busy one, and with all the work involved, Bullet is going to have to rely even more heavily on his X Team Mates to kick the goals on the race track.
Bullet says "We took on a lot of great talent in 2010 and only added to it for 2011. On top notch product some of our younger racers with heaps of potential are really starting to crank the pace up. I'm really looking forward to supporting the X Team and helping out at anything that makes us faster."
